The new E-100e, E-200e and E-200e Spectrum models of the flagship E-Series portfolio deliver more payload capacity in a lightweight, all-electric design for urban delivery fleets.

Thermo King®, a leader in transport temperature control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies, is ramping up production of the new compact E-100e, E-200e and E-200e Spectrum units. These all-electric refrigeration units are engineered to meet the evolving demands of modern last-mile deliveries in vans and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) up to 12m3.

The new single and multi-temperature models deliver up to 20% lower energy consumption, up to 50% more heating capacity, and are up to 32% lighter than previous generations. Part of the all-electric Thermo King E-Series portfolio, the units are robust and space-efficient and include integrated telematics connectivity with a 12-month subscription as standard. Smart controls optimise energy use and minimise impact on the battery-electric vehicle’s (BEV) driving range.

“We understand how critical it is to balance performance, efficiency and sustainability, especially as last-mile delivery becomes more demanding,” said Graham Wells, Product Manager Small Truck at Thermo King for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “With the new E-Series we are raising the bar for efficiency, sustainability, and ease of installation. Simplified on the inside, these units are engineered for reliable temperature control, maximised uptime with minimal environmental impact and operational costs. Their lightweight design helps maximise payload, while integrated technology and zero direct emissions support the transition to sustainable, electrified and decarbonised last-mile.”

The Thermo King E-Series portfolio provides fully electric, zero-direct-emission and low-noise refrigeration for both BEV and ICE vehicles. Prioritising high performance, sustainability, and operational flexibility, the units provide powerful and constant cooling capacity, rapid pulldown and fast temperature recovery – independent of the vehicle’s engine speed. Holdover capability also maintains precise temperature control even when the vehicle is stationary.

Key Innovations and Benefits:

  • Flexibility to fit any application: suitable for BEV or engine-driven (ICE) vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, and for roof, nose, front pod, and rear pod mounting options.
  • Seamless, agnostic BEV integration: Connects to either the low-voltage (12V) e-PTO of the BEV, or to a vehicle-to-load (V2L) connection on BEVs with onboard inverter functionality delivering performance with minimal impact on vehicle range.
  • Integrated inverter technology: Highly efficient compressor technology saves energy and improves temperature accuracy – delivering up to 20% better coefficient of performance (COP).
  • New heat pump architecture: Reverse cycle technology delivers powerful cooling, heating and defrosting. Heating capacity is increased by 40% for the E-100e and 50% for the E-200e.
  • Lightweight, durable frame: The all-aluminium frame improves reliability and payload capacity. Weight is reduced by up to 32% – around 20 kg for the E-100e and 11 kg for the E-200e. The new units are also 25% narrower.
  • Reduced noise and vibration: Advanced compressor technology and a custom vibrasorber ensure significantly quieter operation.
  • Low maintenance: Fewer moving parts and compact architecture reduce service requirements and downtime.
  • Built-in connectivity: Integrated telematics included as standard.
  • City-ready: all-electric and zero-direct-emission refrigeration enables night and day access to low emission and noise-restricted zones.
