Thermo King shares insights on accelerating global carbon footprint reduction in transport refrigeration.

Today, at the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Thermo King®, a leader in transport temperature control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies (NYSE:TT), joined fellow industry leaders to share ways to accelerate carbon footprint reduction in transport refrigeration.

Francesco Incalza, president of Thermo King Europe, Middle East and Africa, shared insights on climate innovations, including electrification, low global-warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, pathways to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and other avenues that can help bend the curve on climate change, in alignment with the company’s 2030 Sustainability Commitments. Thermo King is working closely with customers, dealers and other partners to deliver emission-free refrigerated transport of the future, while providing lower emissions options today.

“Transport refrigeration technologies have tremendous capability to decarbonize our cities,” said Incalza. “When we look at the climate crisis, we see ourselves as part of the solution, and the decisions we make today will impact generations to come. We can change an industry, but none of us can do this alone – we need cross-industry collaboration.”

As 10% of the world’s carbon emissions comes from global food loss, developing and leveraging reliable, low-emissions solutions to address this challenge also plays a critical role in accelerating carbon footprint reduction in transport refrigeration. Thermo King’s telematics technology and expertise helps ensure consistent temperature regulation for the transportation of food and other critical goods – including medicine and vaccines – by refrigerated vans, trucks and trailers, and across marine, rail and air sectors.
