Dixon International Selects Thermo King TracKing™ for Real-Time Fleet Monitoring

8th July 2014

Dixon International, one of Ireland’s leading national and international logistics and distribution companies, has equipped their refrigerated trailer fleet with TracKing™ telematics solution from Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand.

As award winner of the Fleet Transport International Haulier of the Year for the last three years, Dixon International knows that fleet management and traceability are crucial to running a successful transport business. They were looking for a solution that would provide real-time temperature and fleet monitoring to assure cargo safety and quality is maintained throughout a trip.

After conducting extensive field trials, Dixon International opted for Thermo King TracKing as the telematics solution for more than100 of its refrigerated trailers. Using global positioning systems and mobile communications (GPS/GPRS), the TracKing telematics solution is a web-based system that gives fleet managers the ability to remotely track and monitor their assets. TracKing has the capability to provide automatic alarms and notification of unexpected events such as out-of-range temperatures, which is critical for Dixon International.

“The advanced capabilities of TracKing contribute to the increase of our operational efficiency and help us guarantee product integrity and on-time delivery to our customers,” said Michael Dixon, director of Dixon International. “Many of our customers are active in the pharmaceutical industry and need to adhere to strict guidelines. TracKing gives our customers peace of mind that their cargo is transported in a stable and secure temperature controlled environment.”

With TracKing, Dixon International can accurately monitor and manage their refrigeration fleet and keep their load protected. This can easily be done remotely thanks to:

  • Regular updates on unit sensors and logger sensors to compare air temperature inside the trailer versus set point
  • Out-of-range temperature monitoring with real-time alarm notification by email or SMS
  • Remote set point changes for modifications of temperature settings
  • Remote control of the refrigeration unit, including defrost initiation, change of running modes and turning the unit on and off
  • A full suite of operational reports available at your fingertips and sent to your e-mail at the requested time and format.

With TracKing capabilities, fleet managers at Dixon International can effectively interact with their Thermo King refrigeration units while on the road to deliver their cargo safely to its destination.

“Dixon International has been a long-lasting partner of Thermo King and we are happy that we can further contribute to their operational efficiency not only with our refrigeration units but through a comprehensive range of solutions including telematics, maintenance programs and a 24/7 support,” said Fred Rogers, sales manager at Thermo King.
